Kilkenny defender Paddy Deegan has said being captain in 2024 neither lessened or eased the disappointment of losing last year's All-Ireland Semi-Final to Clare.

Speaking at the launch of Tírlán's 2025 sponsorship deal with the Kilkenny senior hurling team, the former AIB Club Player of the Year, was adamant they win and lose as a collective.

"It was obviously disappointing that we didn't win the All-Ireland from the team's point of view more than anything," he said.

"I was made captain, I was put forward by the club and it was a great honour but at the end of the day, the main thing is that we win it together and look it wasn't to be and that's the way it is," Deegan added.

"We're just hoping it doesn't happen to us again," the O'Loughlin Gaels man concluded.
