Well-loved Kilkenny principal to turn on Christmas lights

From this week's Johnstown Notes
The annual festival of light in Johnstown will be held on Monday, December 9 with the Christmas lights to be turned by iconic outgoing principal John Curran.
In October, A big crowd filled the parish church to celebrate the retirement of Mr Curran, principal of St Kieran’s NS for the past 26 years.
Children will gather in the church carpark at 5.15pm, where they will be entertained by DJ Mike Glendon. They will then parade to the Square, where there will be music by DJ Tracey Edwards. Rosettes will be hung on the memorial tree to remember those parishioners who died during the year.
The village Christmas lights will be turned on by recently retired principal of St Kieran’s National School John Curran before all head over to St Mary’s Hall to meet Santa. Donations on the night will be in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
