Work begins on new fire station project by Kilkenny construction company

Construction contract signed for €3.3m Stradbally fire station
Construction is about to fire up on the long awaited new base for Stradbally Fire Service, with their vacant old building set to become a community meeting hall.
Laois County Council has described the signing of contracts between it and Kilkenny company Ormonde Construction on Wednesday, April 29 as as “a major milestone”.
The new €3.3m fire station on council land has been designed to meet the evolving needs of the local fire service and the growing community, as well as serving huge events like Electric Picnic and Stradbally Steam Rally.
It will have advanced training facilities, enough room for storing specialist equipment, and dedicated office spaces. The Near Zero Energy Rating building will include solar panels and air-to water heating systems. It will have a training yard with a drill tower, a lecture room, canteen and staff facilities for 12 fire-fighters. The facilities will also include individual changing areas for each crew member.
