‘Disgusting’ - Frustration over car parked on footpath outside Waterford hospital

A number of people have expressed frustration over a car which was parked on a footpath in Waterford city.
The grey Toyota Yaris was parked outside the entrance to Whitfield Hospital on the Cork Road.
A picture of the car, which was parked beside a ‘No Parking’ sign, has circulated widely on social media.
The user who posted the photo originally stated: “For the sake of avoiding a €4 parking charge (despite the first 20 minutes of parking at Whitfield being free), someone decided to park across the footpath.
“The ironic part? They parked right beside a ‘No Parking or Set Down in This Area’ sign.
“As someone pushing a buggy, I had to go out onto the main road to get around it.”
They went on to express frustration over the inconvenience caused to those with disabilities and pedestrians in general.
“A wheelchair user, someone with a mobility scooter, or anyone using a walking frame would have had to do the same.
“Parking like this isn’t just frustrating, it forces pedestrians into traffic. I don’t understand how anyone would think this is acceptable.”
A number of people shared similar sentiments in the comments of the post.
One person described the parking as “disgusting”, adding that the person had a “rules don’t apply to me mindset”.
Another person stated: “There is almost no enforcement of traffic laws in Ireland, so a subset of the population both realises they can get away with this and doesn't feel the shame in doing so.
“Car should be towed to Donegal with a €500 release fee, payable in person and three penalty points.”
Similarly, another user commented that the car should have been clamped or towed.
