Waterford City and County Council has issued an update on the project

The final works are underway on the new bridge in Waterford city, the local authority has said.

Waterford City and County Council issued an update on the project in its Monthly Management Report.

A council spokesperson said: “Significant progress continues to be made across the North Quays Public Infrastructure Project, with several key elements now entering their final stages of delivery.

“The finishing out works on the sustainable transport bridge, that includes the surfacing, installation of lighting and street furniture has commenced along with the final commissioning of the automated systems for the opening span.

“The removal of temporary river piles and the completion of the permanent pier protection system is also progressing.”

They concluded by reiterating that the bridge will not open until late 2027, coinciding with the completion of the Transport Hub.
