A planning application for over 350 solar panels has been made to Waterford City and County Council.

Woodhouse Properties Ltd is requesting permission for 355 ground-mounted solar panels to be placed in Stradbally.

The proposed development would be roughly 700m2.

If permission is granted, the solar panels would be put in the Woodhouse Estate, which is described as "secluded sanctuary" on its website.

Planning is also being sought for the panels' inverter enclosure and all other associated works.

Each solar panel would generate in and around 150Kwp of renewable energy.

The application was made on January 22nd and any submissions regarding the application must be made by February 25th.

Waterford City and County Council must make its decision on the development by March 18th.

Woodhouse Estate's house was built in the 17th Century by the FitzGerald family and has since been extended into a six bay-window residence overlooking the River Tay.
