Popular Waterford shop fined €900 by CCPC over pricing display failures

Mr Price was issued the penalties for failures at its premises in Kingsmeadow, Waterford
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued three fixed payment notices to a popular shop in Waterford city.
Corajio Unlimited Company, trading as Mr Price, was issued the penalties for failures at its premises in Kingsmeadow.
The fixed payment notices of €300 each were issued for failures to display unit pricing.
CCPC rules say that certain goods must have a unit price displayed so consumers can compare the cost of similar products sold in different sizes.
This is in order to make it easier for customers to find the best value, as outlined in Regulation 5(1) of the European Communities (Requirements to Indicate Product Prices) Regulations 2002.
The CCPC found Mr Price had failed to abide with this legislation on three instances during an inspection in March of this year.
Three fixed payment notices were subsequently issued to the trader.
The CCPC is the main statutory body in Ireland responsible for enforcing and promoting compliance with competition, consumer protection and product safety law, with new and expanding roles in digital and data regulation.
