The items are reported to have been stolen from a trust box in the West Waterford village of Ballymacarbary

Baked goods were among a number of items stolen from a trust box in County Waterford over the weekend.

The items are reported to have been stolen from Druid Anna’s Trust Box in Ballymacarbry.

In a post on social media, Jo Ní Fhaoláin of Druid Anna’s Trust Box wrote: “This is something I hoped I would never, ever have to write.

“Last night, October 25, everything inside the trust box was stolen, including the trays!

“I'm so upset and cross because this is after destroying something that was built for the community on trust and honesty. If anyone knows anything please contact me.

“This won't stop us but it does mean now cameras will have to be installed. To everyone that has supported us over the last few months from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

The trust box, located in the West Waterford village, usually contains fresh homemade baking and local products for sale.

It operates as a self-serve honesty box, with customers asked to place the price of their purchase in a cash box.

A number of local residents have expressed their outrage over the incident.

It comes just days after a number of items were stolen from a coffee hut in Ballymacarbry.
