‘Very little more’ can be done to address speeding taking place in Waterford village

Cllr Seanie Power raised the issue at the June meeting of the Comeragh Municipal District
“Very little more” can be done to address the speeding that is taking place in a village in County Waterford, a council meeting has heard.
Fine Gael councillor Seanie Power raised the issue of speeding in Clonea Power at the June meeting of the Comeragh Municipal District.
Cllr Power enquired about a speed survey that Waterford City and County Council was due to be carried out in the area.
He asked whether the survey had been carried out and if it had, what the results were.
In response to Cllr Power, Senior Executive Engineer Roger Noonan outlined what the survey found.
Mr Noonan said: “A speed survey was carried out there, councillor, and it did indicate some speeding over and above the permitted speed limit.
“However, looking at the layout of that road, that road is the appropriate width, the signage is appropriate, the line marking is appropriate, so everything is there from an engineer perspective.
“Everything is in place that should be in place.”
He concluded by saying that the speeding at the location is just down to human behaviour.
“There’s very little more we can do there,” Mr Noonan added.
