Derry Jazz Festival: Mayor hosts reception for family of Johnny Quigley

Mr Quigley had been one of the key figures involved in the growth and development of the festival since it began 23 years ago

The Mayor of Derry and Strabane, Councillor Patricia Logue, yesterday hosted a special reception in memory of local musician Johnny Quigley in the Mayor's Parlour, at the opening of the City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival. Mr Quigley had been one of the key figures involved in the growth and development of the festival since it began 23 years ago. Mayor Logue took the opportunity to acknowledge the huge contribution Johnny Quigley made to the festival over the years and the lasting legacy he had left for the local cultural community, both through his professional teaching and his performance.
