For the friends and family of Kieran Whelan, Saturday night’s tribute concert in Ballyshannon’s Bridgend Bar allowed them the opportunity to celebrate and remember the life of a man who meant so much to so many people.
Kieran, who was 40, died in January, 2022, in Baltimore in Maryland, USA where he had lived for the past ten years. The Cluain Barron man had made Baltimore his second home.
His death last year was met with deep sadness by his many friends and fellow musicians both at home in Donegal and in Baltimore.
In Ballyshannon, a tribute concert was planned shortly after his death, but it was postponed due to Covid-19.
On Saturday night, the concert finally went ahead and a number of former musicians and fellow band members who had shared a stage with Kieran in times gone by, took part in the special tribute evening.
It was a lovely way to celebrate the life of Kieran - a man for whom music meant so much.
