The Darcy family have thanked everyone played their part in the fundraisers to help their daughter Caoimhe is her fight to walk.
Caoimhe Darcy lives in Ballintra with her brother Michael, dog Marshall and her mum and dad Stuart and Noreen Darcy (FDR Car Sales). Caoimhe was born with Cerebral Palsy which has affected her legs mainly.
Driver Declan Boyle of the McCafferty’s Bar Group offered his bar as the place to run a Fundraising and Auction Night for ‘Caoimhe's Fight to Walk.'
"We had an amazing weekend fundraising for Caoimhe and are delighted to say that once the auction item payments are all in we will have reached our target. Knowing that we will be able to provide Caoimhe with this life changing surgery and the full aftercare that she will need and deserves is a truly amazing feeling.
"For everyone who turned up to the 5k and fun day on Saturday afternoon with Naomh Bríd and St. Eunan's N.S, Laghey and then again at the Auction in McCafferty's Donegal Town on Saturday night thank you.
"It would be almost impossible to thank everyone without forgetting someone ... but we are in a community of amazing people. The entire staff of St Eunan’s NS, along with the parents Association and the club of Naomh Bríd who put the 5k fun day into action, it was so much fun and the kids really enjoyed it. Then for the crew that all helped in McCaffertys on the night, once again many of the school staff returned and jumped into action again along with many of the Naomh Bríd Crew and it all came together to be an amazing night.
"The phone bidders, the spotters, the auctioneers, those helping on the door, the technical help, the donators, the photographers and of course those in the audience bidding on the prizes…each and everyone of you were amazing!
"We will be leaving Caoimhe's GoFundMe page open to allow those paying for auction items through this platform to process your successful bid payments open to allow those paying for auction items through this platform to process your successful bid payments."
Caoimhe has the chance to receive a life changing surgery known as SDR, in which they will relieve the spasticity in her legs through spinal surgery. She has officially been accepted as a great candidate by world renowned Surgeon Dr. T. S. Park in St Louis Children's Hospital, Missouri for this life changing surgery SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy).
This surgery will relieve the every day pain she experiences and help her immensely in progressing toward her milestones and, her big wish, walking independently. This life changing surgery is essential for Caoimhe's future independence and we hope to be going to America.
