Some 35 members of the Crossroads & Killygordon Wednesday Club for Older People enjoyed an excellent day out in beautiful, sunny west Donegal. Please click on the arrows to go through the gallery
First port of call on leaving Killygordon was Tobin's restaurant in Letterkenny where tea/coffee and amazing scones were very much enjoyed.
Then, they continued on to the Dunlewey Centre where firstly they had an enjoyable boat trip around the lake with interesting explanations as to local history. After this, a visit to an old cottage with so many replicas of times gone by and a demonstration of weaving also proved to be very popular.
They also received an appetising three-course lunch, which was well received by all. This was followed by three games of bingo for some mental stimulation. Then their music man, Joe Carlin, had everyone on the floor with a great variety of music to suit all for line dancing, old time waltzes. Finally a raffle took place, thanks to all for providing such good prizes.
Then back to Killygordon after having a great day out! The Wednesday Club continues every week at the Oaktree Centre, from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. The organisers say more people are welcome to call in and avail of the facilities there as well as taking part in various day trips throughout the year. For information, contact the CAKE office on 07491 49557 between 9:30 am and 1 pm, Monday to Friday.
