GALLERY: Part Two: A photographic tour of Donegal - through the lens of lockdown

This is the second part of Barry McNulty's fantastic series

Rathmullan Abbey: Built in 1518 by the McSwineys of Fanad it was later turned into a priory before being plundered by Captain George Bingham from Sligo and then turned into an army barracks of 150 men in 1601. In 1617 Bishop Andrew Knox took possession of it and turned it into his own Palace and it remained in the Knox family until the late 1800s after which it became derelict. The Abbey had been closed for a few years after becoming overgrown with ivy but its great to see it recently reopen after some renovations.
