Why they won: All the winners from the Donegal Sports Star Awards profiled

There was a full house for the 48th Donegal Sports Star, where Donegal manager Jim McGuinness was the special guest on a night where there were 161 nominees in over 40 categories


The Winner of the 2023 Best Sports Girl at Secondary School level was Keri Loughrey.
The highlight of 2023 for Keri was captaining the Scoil Mhuire Senior Girls to the All-Ireland Soccer title. It’s some achievement to skipper your school to back-to-back All-Ireland titles. She did that first with the Scoil Mhuire U17s in 2022. It’s the third time that a Loughrey family member has won an Award here. Keri’s sister Jodie won the Best Sports Girl Primary School Award in 2018 and last year she was also honoured with a Junior Award after captaining the Republic of Ireland U17s.
