A rural Laois school held a beautiful music concert for all the children's grandparents on Thursday, June 12 for Grandparents Day. Camross NS gave a surprise gift to Nuala Kelly, Music Generation Laois in thanks to five years of music tutoring, and even raised their 9th An Taisce Green Flag, on what was a busy afternoon. The concert took place in St Kevin's Church, Camross next to the school. All of the children took part singing popular songs from Ride On to Don't Stop Believin', to the delight of the packed audience.
Talitha Horan is Camross NS principal.
"We are delighted to celebrate Grandparents Day every year. Grandparents are a very important part of our school community. A special thanks to Nuala Kelly for all her work throughout the year," she said.
The Green Flag was raised by the oldest and youngest schoolchildren; Amber Palmer O'Keeffe and Iarlaith Burke, and Green Schools Coordinator and Junior Infant teacher Ms Cordial. Refreshments followed in Camross community hall courtesy of the Parents Council who also organised the event.
