An award winning Laois fine artist has opened a surprise pop-up gallery this weekend in Portlaoise.
Paddy Critchley currently has paintings on exhibition in The Visual Carlow and Boyle Arts Festival, but Laois fans and collectors have a rare chance to snap up a piece of his art, and meet the artist, in a show he is personally hosting at the Holy Family Junior School on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27. Paddy told the Leinster Express / Laois Live how the show came about in the vast bright GP room, a perfect setting for his atmospheric thoughful paintings ranging from A5 to vast wall canvasses.
"These are stored works over the past eight years, I have moved studio so the principal Enda kindly gave the use of the school hall, on request by my mother Jackie who works at the school.
"A lot of the work here is previously unseen. I's mainly oils on linen canvasses but also prints and preparatory drawings. It's a good opportunity to see them and I hope people can drop in over the weekend," he said.
The show is open in the school's main hall accessed at the front of the campus, follow the signs, from 11am to 5pm daily. For more on artist Paddy Critchley follow his Instagram page.
