Motorists on the A6 between Dungiven and Derry are facing lengthy tailbacks this morning due to the poor weather conditions.
Heavy snowfall throughout the night and during this morning has meant driving conditions are hazardous on the busy road.
One motorist, who had an urgent appointment at Altnagelvin Hospital this morning, contacted Derry Now to express her concerns.
The woman left her home in Dungiven 75 minutes before her appointment to make sure she got there on time this morning.
She said she endured 'the most awful driving conditions' between Dungiven and Derry.
“There was no sign of any snow ploughs, no sign of any gritters on this road, it's an absolute disgrace,” said the woman, who preferred not to be named.
Having successfully navigated the journey to Altnagelvin Hospital and attended her appointment, it took the woman another hour to travel home because conditions had 'deteriorated'.
“Conditions were actually worse on the way back to Dungiven than they were on the way in. Traffic was at a standstill, absolutely stationary, on three separate parts of the road. It's a complete shambles and the junction at Baranailt Road, near Claudy, is absolutely awful. The climber lane close to Muldonagh is absolute gridlock also. Traffic is sitting stationary and then you get going again but you can't get above 10mph,” she added.
