Ann Mullan, who lives in Boston but hails from Derry, was delighted by the performance of some young Irish dancers at a feis in Washington DC.
Speaking to Derry Now, Ann said: “A few of us here in the States do voluntary work for the Derry-based charity, Children in Crossfire, which supports projects helping some of the most vulnerable children on the planet that suffer from the injustice of poverty.
“Last weekend I went to a Feis in Washington DC where the kids had chosen Children in Crossfire as their charity.
“I was amazed to see a fantastic dance/drama performance from the students of the McGrath Morgan Academy of Irish Dance. It was called 'Derry Girls'. The school is based in Virginia and Maryland in the US and they made it to the final of the World Irish Dancing Championships, which were held in Montreal in Canada last week.
“I thought the performance was just fantastic so I just wanted to share the photographs of these Stateside dancing 'Derry Girls' with the readers of the Derry News,” said Ann.
