Watch: Glenties singer-songwriter Mario Mannering's debut single ‘Bad thing’

Mario Mannering from Glenties says his hometown 'is a small quiet unassuming town with a big spirit much like the music it has inspired in me'

Mario Mannering, singer-songwriter from Glenties who spent much of his time busking in Letterkenny, has released his debut single.

‘Bad thing’ is the first song of Mario’s five-track EP - co-produced, mixed and mastered at the studios of RadioLee.ie in Tralee, Co Kerry by Derek Berrill last month - with more to follow in 2023. The song was recorded and produced in Stonewall Studio, Sinning, Oberhausen, Bavaria, Germany, by Mario “with the advantage of fast reliable Internet access.”

Mario told DonegalLive: “It’s inspired by some of the great artists of a generation before such as Eddie Vedder and Rory Gallagher. Bad thing, my debut single is about the trials we face in life and our ability to overcome them regardless of how challenging they may seem in the moment.”

Mario can be followed on his Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels - for regular updates, future music release dates as well as up and coming gigs and events and he feels that growing up in Glenties has played a huge part in his musical progression.

“Glenties is a small quiet unassuming town with a big spirit much like the music it has inspired in me,” he added.
“I come from a large family with almost as many brothers as sisters, through them I spent my youth steeped in music of all varieties and truly due to them a thirst for this musical journey was awoken inside me. A thirst that has carried me to many different places and a thirst that has led me to meet many different people.”
