Watch: Donegal enthusiast claims first Lough Ness Monster sighting of 2023

A Donegal man has claimed the first sighting of the Lough Ness Monster this year

Fifty-eight-year old Hospital clerical worker Eoin O’Faodhagain, from Castlefinn, was studying webcam footage of at Shoreland Lodges.

"Unexplained disturbance on surface of Loch Ness captured on the VILN Webcam at Shoreland Lodges at 07.48.35 timestamp," he said on his YouTube channel. "Movement on the surface first the two shadowy wakes move parallel to each other under the surface to the left for about 15 feet then it is gone. Weather conditions clear and calm."

The footage, which was recorded on February 23, and uploaded three days later, has over 26,000 views. The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register hasn’t recorded a new entry since October 11 last year and although they do not accept webcam sightings, it is the first "sighting" of the calendar year.

The Loch Ness Monster, affectionately known as Nessie, is a creature in Scottish folklore that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands.
