Watch: MacCumahaill's install giant new screen ahead of Donegal's clash with Meath

The 4x3-metre screen was installed into the Ballbofey ground with the assistance of Sean MacCumhaill’s GAA club volunteers on Wednesday by FSL Scoreboards Ltd from Cookstown, Co Tyrone

Supporters attending this evening’s Allianz League Division 2 encounter between Donegal and Meath will get a first glimpse of MacCumhaill Park’s brand-new screen.

The 4x3-metre screen was installed into the Ballbofey ground with the assistance of Sean MacCumhaill’s GAA club volunteers on Wednesday by FSL Scoreboards Ltd from Cookstown, Co Tyrone.  Michael Murphy's famous goal against Mayo in the 2012 All-Ireland final was used for the test run. Only Breffni Park in Cavan has a similar screen in Ulster.

The aim was to have the screen operational for Donegal's last Division 2 fixture, which takes place this evening at 7pm with Meath the visitors.

All in all, the aim is to maximise the supporters’ experience with work over the next two years. MacCumhaill’s members got together and have put plans in place on how to develop the ground, with plans in place for a new playing surface, toilet facilities, removing the perimeter wall around the pitch and improving disabled access.

Interested parties and possible sponsors came on board and GMB Law, Donegal Town and Killybegs, came up with the idea of a screen, which gained the backing of MacCumhaill’s. GMB are the main sponsor of the new installation.

The screen will display the score from the game and has both the stop clock for GAA and countdown clock for LGFA fixtures. It will also provide advertising space and tonight, there is a promotional GAA video planned, which will be put together by Bradas O’Donnell.

The old scoreboard, which involved manual swapping of letters and numbers, will be moved to the recently acquired playing facility at Railway Road in Stranorlar.
