WATCH: Maynooth's Naoise Ó Cearúil becomes first local councillor elected in Co Kildare

Naoise Ó Cearúil has become the first local councillor elected in Co. Kildare, securing enough votes to be elected in the first count.

Ó Cearúil, a Fianna Fáil councillor, secured 1,880 votes in the first count for Maynooth LEA, exceeding the quota by 314 votes.

Ó Cearúil was the only councillor to be elected in the first count.
