Fianna Fáil representative, Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick topped the poll in the Castlecomer Local Electoral Area (Lea) earlier, becoming the first elected representative for the area in this election with a huge 2,308 first preference votes
Speaking to Kilkenny Live at the Kilkenny Count Centre, a relieved Mr Fitzpatrick claims he still loves the job after 20 years in local government.
"You don't get everything right but if you can give any person any bit of solace and any little bit of help, even just to listen to them, it's so important and when they go out and put their number one or whatever number in front of your name it's so honouring," he said.
