Fianna Fáil General Election candidate, Peter 'Chap' Cleere has claimed he has a 'chance' in the race for a seat and he and his campaign team have 'left it all out on the pitch' as Carlow-Kilkenny candidates await the first count in General Election 2024.
Earlier tallies showed the Skeogh councillor on a healthy 10.4% (6,660 first preference votes) as he aims to swap the councillor chamber for the Dáil chamber.
"We'll be there or thereabouts come tomorrow evening (Sunday), there's a huge amount of transfers to go through but look we have a chance," he told Kilkenny Live.

"The doorsteps have been brilliant, that's been my favourite part of the whole experience is knocking on doors and talking people and listening to people to try and solve their issues," he said, adding, "I would have loved to have met more, it was a really quick campaign for a first time candidate, short and snappy but we left it all out on the pitch so whatever happens, happens."
