WATCH: Kilkenny County Council launches new Biodiversity Action Plan

The plan aims to protect, enhance and restore biodiversity in the county

Cathaoirleach Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh launched Kilkenny County Council's new Biodiversity Action Plan 2025-2030 at the scenic Woodstock Gardens this week.

In the accompanying video she stressed the importance of biodiversity in the county and urged residents to be aware of their usage of harmful chemicals.

Also appearing is Head Gardener at Woodstock, John Delaney, who outlined some of the steps his team has taken to improve their practices including using different planting schemes to be more pollinator friendly and leaving stumps of fallen trees as habitats for wildlife.

Bernadette Moloney, the council's Biodiversity Officer, concluded by describing the process of the plan's development from public consultations to the aim that biodiversity will be integrated into council operations.
