WATCH: Car erupts into flames in busy Laois square

Rathdowney fire service were on the scene in minutes

In dramatic scenes, a car erupted into flames in Rathdowney's town square at midday on Thursday.

The vehicle was surrounded by parked cars, when emergency services were alerted by bystanders to the blaze.

Rathdowney Fire and Rescue service were on scene within moments, extinguishing the fire before it could spread to other vehicles.

The fire has now been extinguished.

Laois County Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
