WATCH - Bressie talks to Leitrim Observer about The Rising

The Blizzards frontman and mental health advocate Bressie is currently making his way down the Shannon by kayak and Carrick-on-Shannon was one of the stops for the Mullingar man and his team this weekend where the Leitrim Observer too the opportunity to catch up with the lads after they docked in the town.

The boys have been training tirelessly for the event which is called the 'The Rising' and will see them attempt to kayak the full length of the river, over 300km, with all funds raised going to  'A Lust for Life', a movement co-created by Bressie - an award-winning mental health charity with a focus on educating young people to look after their mental health.

The group are set to complete the journey in Limerick city on July 6 at King John's Castle.

The primary school programme is already helping over 50,000 primary school children in one in three schools nationwide. The money raised will also aid the development of a secondary schools programme for Transition Year students.

The concept for the kayak fundraiser was developed by Bressie along with fellow Mullingar man Ray Carolan of Lakeland Kayaks.
