PERPETUAL cups and plaques were presented to the Cappamore Show by Mayor Gerald Mitchell, Sam Milburn in memory of his wife Mary and the Kennedy family for the late Rody at the launch of the event.
The night is about thanking sponsors, without whom there wouldn't be a show, and looking forward to this year's event on Saturday, August 19.
PJ Blackwell, treasurer, said their support and attendance at the launch was as important as the financial backing.
In a wide-ranging speech sprinkled with humour from secretary John Hassett - apparently Marty Morrissey was invited but couldn't get a lift - he revealed that it cost close to €99,000 to put on last year's show.
“It's a phenomenal figure. I want to thank our sponsors because it can't happen without money,” said Mr Hassett, who also spoke of how many people it takes to hold a one day event in an open field subject to so many variables, especially weather.
He paid tribute to the over 140 strong committee and the many more volunteers who prepare the field in the run up and on the day.
Cappamore Show has another fantastic line-up from the best of cattle, horses and goats this year to free children's entertainment, celebrity chefs, dog show, best of fruit, vegetables and flowers, cookery and craft, art and photography and bonny baby show
New this year is a Green Village, in conjunction with St Ailbe’s Credit Union, which will showcase wildlife and biodiversity champions.
See full details in the coming weeks ahead of the big day on Saturday, August 19.
The committee has put in place a new online system for taking entries in all classes.
