WITH around a quarter of boxes opened in the Limerick County constituency, four candidates are out in front by a considerable margin, according to the first of the tallies.
The latest tally (36 of 145 boxes) suggests Independent Ireland candidate Richard O'Donoghue has secured 26% of first preference votes, Niall Collins of Fianna Fáil 24%, Patrick O'Donovan of Fine Gael 21% and Joanne Collins of Sinn Fein 12%.
According to the unofficial tally, no other candidate has more than 5%.
According to the tally, the final turnout in the three-seat Limerick County constituency is likely to be around 52%.
The counting of votes following Friday's vote began just after 9am this Saturday and is likely to continue until Sunday afternoon.
