'It will be tough' - John Kiely discusses Limerick hurling clash with two days to go

Limerick senior hurling manager shares thoughts this Good Friday ahead of Munster Championship clash with Tipp

“WE ARE prepared.”

The words of Limerick senior hurling manager John Kiely ahead of the Limerick v Tipperary much-anticipated Munster Championship clash this Easter Sunday.

Limerick senior hurlers are facing Tipperary in the first round of the provincial championship this Sunday at 4pm in FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles, where they hope to overcome the Premier County.

The Treaty men will be battling it out for their seventh Munster hurling title in a row this weekend against their neighbors and fierce rivals, with Limerick manager John Kiely saying his side are prepared.

“We have our work done and we just have to hope that it's good enough.

“It will be tough I know, but we're looking forward to it!”

Previously, Galbally native John told Limerick Live reporter Paul O'Shaughnessy that the Munster championship requires a certain level of “competitiveness” to get by.

“First of all, you have to be competitive in order to get out of Munster, in order to get to a Munster final, but when you do get the chance to be successful and to actually win a trophy, that's you having to seize that moment and that opportunity.

“We just want to be competitive in the first place and hopefully give ourselves some of those opportunities along the way,” he said.

Limerick completed a record six-in-a-row of Munster senior hurling titles when overcoming Clare in last year's final in Thurles.

2016 was the last time Tipperary defeated Limerick in the Munster senior hurling championship.

The round one Munster SHC fixture will be shown live on GAA+ and will not be available live on terrestrial TV.
