The launch of the Rathkeale Town Centre First Plan drew strong support, with Mayor of Limerick John Moran emphasising the importance of community-led regeneration and long-term vision for the future of the town.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Moran said the plan represents a pivotal moment for Rathkeale as it works to strengthen its identity, revitalise its public spaces and create a safer, more accessible town centre for all.

He described the Town Centre First approach as a powerful tool for empowering communities, noting that Rathkeale’s plan was shaped through extensive collaboration with local residents, businesses, and organisations. “This plan reflects the voices of local people,” he said, adding that its success will depend on continued partnership between the community, the Rathkeale Town Team and Limerick City and County Council.
The atmosphere at the launch was one of optimism, with the Mayor praising the energy and pride shown by local groups, community leaders and young people who contributed ideas to the vision for Rathkeale. He described the plan as a roadmap that will “unlock the full potential of the town” and ensure it continues to thrive for generations.
