WATCH | Longford charity Cian's Kennels celebrates a year of bringing pets closer to sick children and their families

Cian Neary passed away from cancer in 2019, when he was 15. After he passed away, his parents set up a charity organisation called Cian’s Kennels.

Cian was a dog lover from Longford whose dog Cooper visited him outside Crumlin Children's Oncology unit when he was in hospital.

Cian’s Parents, Evelyn and Enda along with his brother Shane, realised how strong Cian and Cooper's bond was, and they decided to help other sick children cope by bringing their dogs to them while they were in hospital.

The story focuses on Cian’s life before he was diagnosed with cancer, how his dog Cooper was a source of comfort for him while in hospital.

It discusses why Cian’s Kennels was set up and how the journey has grown and progressed in the year since it opened.
