WATCH: Longford 'farmfluencer' Farmer Phil meets YouTube fan from Australia at Ploughing 2023

Philip Stewart, or Farmer Phil as he is better known, was a big hit at this year's Ploughing Championships with people queueing up to meet him.

The farmer from near Killashee in Longford admitted that farming is an "all-consuming" way of life, and when he finishes a day cutting silage, he could end up cutting more virtually on Farming Simulator for hours.

He played down the effort it takes to be something of a YouTube sensation, with over 80,000 followers, and said he has a standard Go-Pro camera which he carries around to shoot footage. He admitted that his wife has the hard work of editing, which could take up to four hours.

"There's 12 hours a week goes into editing, but I'm lucky that she looks after all that for me. You could say she is in the background doing all the hard work, and I'm just the eegit with the camera," he said.

His social media profile has resulted in visits to his Longford farm shop by people from Australia, Canada, USA, the Netherlands, Austria and many other countries. He said the visits from abroad to his farm in Ballinamore, Killashee are surprising as is his social media following.

A man who regularly comments on his YouTube posts from Australia had arranged especially to meet him at this year's Ploughing.

"It's mad. It's hard to comprehend," he said.

"I don't like using the word fame. I'm just well-known, I don't know how to describe it," he said of his status as a 'farmfluencer'.

"As my father says, there's noting that special about me," he laughed.
