WATCH: There's a new Minogue looking for chart topping success and he's from Tipperary

Twenty years on from his Eurovision appearance in Latvia, Donegal native Mickey Joe Harte's famous We’ve Got The World is back - this time in Irish all for a good cause with help from Today FM

Twenty years on, Mickey Joe Harte’s ‘We’ve Got The World’ is back - this time as Gaeilge.

Lifford native Harte won the RTE television show You're a Star in March 2003, earning the opportunity to represent Ireland at Eurovision Song Contest 2003 in Riga.

In Latvia, Harte’s ‘We’ve Got The World’ finished in 11th place in the competition and the song reached number one on the Irish Singles Chart.

Cashel's Cathal Minogue from the Dermot and Dave show on Today FM recorded the classic song, in Irish, with Harte and they decided to demote hosts Dermot Whelan and Dave Moore to backing vocals. The Today FM hosts said that they would only put the song out if they reached €10,000 for Focus Ireland. Since then donations have surpassed the target so the song is now on the airwaves.

“I have no excuse because half of my family is from the Gaeltacht,” Harte told Today FM. “It’s all for a great cause and a very fitting way to mark 20 years anniversary.”

Focus Ireland works with people across Ireland who are homeless or are at risk of losing their homes. Donations can be made on Revolut, by tapping hub, donations and finding Focus Ireland.
