Shane MacGowan's sister, Siobhan MacGowan, spoke to the crowd at the launch of his Nenagh mural on Sunday.
Speaking about what the mural would mean to her brother, she said "it would have been beyond his wildest imaginings that one day his image would tower like the castle and church steeple over this town he loved.
"It would have been all he could hope for, it truly would have been the measure of his dreams."
