Secretaries and caretakers gathered outside the local constituency office of Michael Lowry on September 2.
This is following the indefinite strike action taken by Fórsa members nationwide that commenced August 28, in protest at their exclusion from public service pensions and basic entitlements.
Ann Slattery, a school secretary in St Kevin’s National School in Littleton said that she hoped TD Michael Lowry (who is part of the government) would speak to his colleagues and the Department of Education.

"We consider ourselves the backbone of the school, they aren’t giving us fair play at all. They’re asking the teachers and the principals to do our work while we are out" - "It is very important that the Department of Education get dialogue going and get something sorted as soon as possible," she said.
