WATCH: Large thunderstorms with heavy rain tracking across Ireland as Met Eireann upgrades Thunderstorm Warning level to Orange

Within the last hour, Met Eireann has increased a Status Yellow Thunderstorm Warning to Orange for Cavan, Donegal, Clare, Connacht, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath.

Large thunderstorm are tracking across the country with this large thunderstorm in Offaly bringing with it constant flashes of lightning, rattling claps of thunder and intense rain. 

Met Eireann warns that thunderstorms and very heavy showers will produce significant rainfall accumulations over short time periods with lash flooding, very difficult travelling conditions with reduced visibility and possible power outages.

That warning remains in place until 10pm with a Status Yellow Warning in effect for 20 counties, including those listed above,
