WATCH: And the thunder rolls! Wind, rain and hail rips through Offaly

Met Eireann had been forecasting isolated thunderstorms and one certainly hit Offaly on Sunday

Offaly was hit with a wicked thunderstorm on Sunday evening amid a brutal Met Eireann forecast.

This video was taken in the Bracknagh area at 7pm on Sunday. Wind, rain and hail ripped through the east of the county.

Met Eireann's forecast for Sunday said: "Sunny spells and scattered showers will continue this evening. Some of the showers will be heavy and slow-moving, with isolated thunderstorms and hail possible. Winds will be light to moderate and variable.

"Mostly dry with clear spells tonight, as showers become isolated. Patches of mist will form in light and variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees."
Monday will also bring unsettled weather hut things look like they could pick up later in the week.
