The two Galway areas where holiday homes dominate the place

They rank among the highest figures in Ireland for holiday homes and second homes
Over half of the houses in Connemara’s prime coastal locations around Roundstone and Ballyconneely are either holiday homes or second homes, according to new figures.
There are 1,288 house and apartments in the area from Roundstone to Clifden and 650 of those are in the holiday/second homes category.
And while some of those residents with second homes spend the greater part of their time in the area, it does nothing for school numbers, for example.
Dunloughan in Ballyconneely with 56% of holiday homes - 72 out of 128 local houses - in the area ranks among the highest figures in Ireland.
Elsewhere in Connemara, a four-bedroom house in Carna sold for over €680,000 - among the highest ever for a home in the area.
The house is close to the shoreline, a few kilometres from the village.
