'Thank you, Mrs Moran,' Galway teacher retires after 48 years of teaching in same school

It is truly the end of an era after nearly half a century of service
One Galway teacher rang the school bell for the last time on Friday marking the end of her working life in education after nearly five decades.
It was truly the end of an era for Salthill and for Scoil Íde as they said goodbye to Mrs Antoinette Moran after 48 years.
The school thanked Mrs Moran for half a century worth of dedication and service to the school wishing her the very best in her retirement.
Scoil Íde paid tribute saying: ‘On Friday, we said goodbye to Mrs Moran as she retired after an incredible 48 years of teaching in Scoil Íde.
‘Thank you, Mrs Moran for all your years of dedicated service and commitment to the Scoil Íde community.’
They added: ‘We wish you every happiness and good health in your retirement.’
Pupils both past and present were also quick to echo the well wishes of the school with many remembering the woman who had taught them so much.
One former student said: ‘Warmest Congrats to Mrs Moran. She taught me in First Class and Third Class and was Miss Coyne that time. That was in the early 1980s. She was a lovely, kind and gentle Teacher. Amazing to think she taught for 48 years. Wishing you all the very best in your retirement.’
Another added: ‘Congratulations Mrs Moran. Wishing you a wonderful retirement full of health and happiness. Mrs Moran taught me in 4th class many years ago.’
While a third commented: ‘A gifted teacher. Congratulations Mrs. Moran fond memories of you as my teacher many years ago.’
