Galway driver escaped gardai twice driving on wrong side of road in wild getaway

The driver narrowly missed oncoming traffic
A speeding Galway driver escaped gardai twice even driving on the wrong side of the road to get away from officers.
Gort gardai are asking for witnesses to come forward over the dangerous driving incident which started on the M18 motorway near Glenbrack.
The driver was spotted travelling at speed on Monday July 6 and failed to stop for gardai.
When officers discovered the car again at the Circle K in Kilcolgan, the driver once again fled the scene and proceeded to drive on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic as they headed in the Clarinbridge direction.
A spokesman for gardai said: “The registration of this car is 161-LS-2279 and it hasn't been located since, with Gardaí now appealing for anyone with information to make contact.”
Separately Mill Street gardai are hunting a second driver in relation to another incident of dangerous driving in the city.

A Galway garda narrowly avoided being hit by a “dangerous” driver in what officers described as “reckless”.
A video from the incident in the early hours of Wednesday morning shows a Garda van beside a pulled over white car.
The BMW car then drives away from the scene, narrowly missing a uniformed officer as it moves away.
A garda spokesman: “The car involved in the incident failed to stop for Gardaí at several points before escaping.
“At around 3.30am, the white BMW 316 evaded a traffic stop by driving at a Garda who had exited a patrol van.”
He added: “The car failed to stop for Gardaí in Galway City and the Salthill/Knocknacarra area before Gardaí lost sight.
“Since then, the car's not been located and Gardaí are appealing to the public for any information. The registration of the white BMW 316 involved is 162-D-35840.”
