The GAA star turned RTE pundit even admitted himself that Galway fans would call him a p**** after the comments

Mayo GAA star turned RTE pundit Lee Keegan couldn’t help but deliver one last dig to the Galway footballers after their defeat to Dublin.

The Former Player Of The Year who played in six All Ireland finals for Mayo wrote in his weekly RTE column that the time had come to “revise our opinions on this Galway team”.

Putting extra weight behind his next kicking of the team he also said they were now in “great company” alongside Mayo for not fulfilling potential.

He wrote: “The time may finally have come to revise our opinion on Galway.

“We've been observing for a few years now what a great team they have on paper.

“But it's a game played on grass. And they didn't deliver again.”

Speaking of their play from the back, he continued: “The kickout area is a disaster zone for them.

“The absence of variety in their kickouts is incredible.”

He went onto add that maybe the time has come to realise that Galway “simply aren’t good enough”.

“I'm afraid the game, coming on top of other big defeats, exposed the soft underbelly of the team on big days.

“Maybe the truth if that they're not good enough and we've been lulled into thinking otherwise.”

Keegan even admitted himself that Galway fans would call him a p** after the comments.

He continued: “Obviously, as I write this, I can hear all the Galway folk saying, 'Ah, that p***k Keegan, he never got over the line.'

“Well, we have company now. That's them over the last few years.”
