Huge crowd flocks to Galway's newest pub on opening night

The area is alive and kicking once again
Huge crowds flocked to Galway’s newest pub on opening night which kicked things off with a bang.
The village of Aughrim felt alive once again as its local boozer reopened its doors and welcomed back some old familiar faces as well as some new ones as the bell for first orders was rung out loud.
Renamed the Inn 1691 after The Battle Of Aughrim, one of Ireland’s worst historical fights where 7,000 soldiers were killed, the opening of the pub didn’t exactly go to plan for owner Eamonn to begin with.
Originally he was meant to have the official opening at the end of August but encountered a few speed wobbles outside of his control.
As a result, Eamonn and locals had to hold off for almost a month for the opening party which was well worth the wait.
Absolutely thrilled with how the first night went Eamonn said he couldn’t wait for more of these nights to come.
He said: “What a night. We couldn't have asked for a better crowd to kick things off. A massive thank you to everyone who came out to support us for our opening night.
“This is just the beginning - come on in, grab a pint, and make yourselves at home. Cheers to many more great nights ahead.”
One happy local said they were “over the moon” to hear that Aughrim had its pub back once again and was happy to wait another while to get inside.
They said: “I want to wish Eamonn and all the staff the very best of luck with the new venture. I have known Eamon for a lot of years and I have absolutely no doubt he will make a right go of it.
“It will be great to see the place buzzing again. Please give him all the support you can and tell your friends.”
