Galway senior hurling captain Darren Morrissey was awarded an All-Star for his performances in defence for Micheál Donoghue’s side. Morrissey was able to enjoy an injury-free season after picking up injuries in previous campaigns. The Sarsfields clubman was rock solid at the back and captained Galway to their first Leinster title since 2018. Galway progressed into the All-Ireland semi-final and recorded an impressive win over Cork. Limerick proved too strong for the Tribesmen in the All-Ireland final, as Galway made their first appearance in the decider since 2018.
Craughwell clubman Tom Monaghan also received an All-Star in midfield after landing an impressive 1-25 from play throughout the championship. After not starting Galway’s opening three games in the Leinster SHC, Monaghan was introduced into the starting XV and his pace, energy and ability to come up with key scores proved crucial on Galway’s run to the All-Ireland final.
In his breakout season, Jason Rabbitte also received an All-Star for his performances in attack for Galway in 2026. Micheál Donoghue changed his side’s gameplan this season by dropping numbers deep and, at times, Rabbitte operated on his own in the full-forward line. The Athenry clubman provided the men in maroon and white with a target man and an outlet on the edge of the square, finishing the championship with 2-11 for the Leinster champions. Rabbitte was also named PwC Young Hurler of the Year.
Fresh from their county final success with Salthill Knocknacarra last weekend, John Maher and Robert Finnerty were also in attendance at the PwC All-Stars. Both players were nominated for football All-Stars, but the Salthill Knocknacarra clubmen missed out on selection this year.
