The Aran Islands native and host of RTE’s the Today show, saw accumulated profits at her media company rise by over a third
Accumulated profits at the media company of TV presenter and Galway native, Maura Derrane, increased by almost 33% last year, according to newly filed accounts.
The RTE Today host is the sole owner of Nara Media Limited, and is listed as a director of the company alongside her husband, former Fine Gael TD John Deasy.
Accounts just filed to the Companies Office show the firm had cash and other current assets amounting to just over €196,000 at the end of 2025, having made an annual profit of €42,955 during the year.
The amount owed to creditors increased marginally to just under €20,000, while net assets climbed from €130,707 to €173,662 during the 12-month period. No details were provided regarding directors’ or salaries, as the business availed of micro-entity reporting exemptions under company law.
Ms Derrane, 56, was raised on Inis Mór in the Aran Islands. She is a native Irish speaker, and has long been one of the country’s most recognisable broadcasters.
She began her career behind the scenes as a researcher for RTÉ News in Galway before joining TG4 at its launch in 1996 as a news reporter. Two years later, she moved to TV3 News, working as a crime correspondent and news reporter.
She kicked off her career in daytime television as co-anchor of Ireland AM between 2004 and 2006, but returned to the national broadcaster to host The Afternoon Show and Four Live, before teaming up with Daithí Ó Sé in 2012 on Today.
Alongside her flagship television role, she has expanded her broadcasting footprint in recent years as a relief presenter across high-profile RTÉ Radio 1 programmes, while also working as an event host, master of ceremonies, and lifestyle columnist focusing on health and wellness.
