Cushion fashion

As soon as women in Asia make something popular, you can expect it to hit our shores soon afterwards. BB creams anyone? Cushion-based foundations have been in Korea for some time, and like the ubiquitous BBs, they are now making an appearance here.

Essentially a foundation in a little cushion, it gives a velvety finish. It seems this is the way to go with foundation, as it offers good coverage and leaves skin glowing.

Lancôme has already stepped up to the plate with Miracle Cushion Foundation, a compact with a fluid soaked sponge. This will suit dry and normal skins and comes in six shades. It costs €38, and you can get refills for €25.

Super smart

American cosmetics company Kiehl’s makes a Super Multi-Corrective Cream, which it claims can simultaneously lift, firm, visibly redefine skin contours and re-texturize skin within two weeks and work swiftly to visibly correct multiple key signs of aging. Kiehl’s chemists have formulated this ‘Super Cream’ using  anti-aging ingredients in a cream base. Jasmonic Acid and Beech Tree Extract are powerhouse anti-aging ingredients, each known for their distinct benefits. Kiehl’s promises to correct multiple key signs of aging in just two weeks, with double correction within four. It will be available here in October for €58.

I adore Kiehl’s and am a regular user of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil. It’s not at all greasy and is easily absorbed, leaving my skin fresh and revived in the morning. Facial oils are the ‘go to’ product for winter.

Set the tone

Catrice Even Skin Tone Beautifying Foundation promises to improve skin tone and leave skin looking radiant after just eight weeks. The long-lasting, pampering texture instantly covers irregularities and redness for a silky-matt, smooth skin tone. The creamy foundation offers medium to high coverage. It is available in four shades, and it’s great value at just €8.50 for 30ml. I’m a huge fan of Catrice, as the product range is top notch and wonderful bang for your buck! Available in pharmacies nationwide.

Boost up

Elizabeth Arden’s new Superstart Skin Renewal Booster (€59) is a versatile product that that can be used alone as a serum or before moisturiser to boost the effectiveness of your skincare routine. It boosts hydration levels, and is enriched with sea fennel and flaxseed extracts, which help to lock in moisture. It’s not cheap, so as always, I recommend getting a sample if you can to make sure it suits your skin.

For dust

Fuschia Make Up continues to excite its many fans across Ireland with the launch of Eye Dust Pigments. These loose dust pigments provide a beautiful wash of colour to the eye area, they can be used dry for exceptional colour and coverage, or wet to create an eyeliner. The range includes whites, turquoise and violet, as well as skin-tone colours that can also be easily worn over cheeks and décolletage.

Whether you are looking to add a light dusting of colour to the eyes for an easy day look or choosing a darker shade for something more intense, there are 19 shades to help you choose whatever look you prefer. For a complete of stockists across Ireland visit www.fuschia.ie.

Hip lips

If you’ve lusted over Christian Louboutin shoes and their trademark red soles then you will drool over the lipstick and nail polish collection.

Are you sitting down? It’s €85 for the lipstick … Yes you read that right! The packaging is gorgeous, and is inspired by the Egyptian queen Nefertiti.

It comes with a chain attached, so you can wear it around you neck if you so wish – bit ‘show offy’ I feel, but then with this kind of price tag, I suppose you’re entitled to flaunt it!
