New coffee shop to be located beside Mayo kitchen showroom

Planning granted to turn area within Symphony Kitchen building in Castlebar into a coffee shop to service the retail park
A showroom within the building of a popular Mayo kitchen and bedroom furniture supplier will be converted into a coffee shop to cater for customers of a Castlebar retail park.
Mayo County Council granted planning permission to change a small area within the Symphony Kitchen building in the Barcastle Retail Park in Castlebar into a coffee shop.
The applicant JJA Woodworks Ltd sought to convert the small area located adjacent to the main Symphony Kitchen showroom into a coffee shop along with new signage.
The proposed coffee shop will be approximately 37 square metres in size and the development will also consist of a lobby to the adjoining Symphony Kitchen showroom and a disabled bathroom. The public entrance to the coffee shop will be at the gable end of the industrial building where there is already an existing entrance and access ramp.

In the planning application lodged by Masterson Design Ltd on behalf of the applicant, it is stated that the development will 'provide a much needed and welcome service for this vibrant retail park'.
“The coffee shop will service the surrounding retail park consisting of retail space, gym, offices and health clinics,” the application stated.
Mayo County Council planners stated that the principle of the proposed change of use within a retail showroom on Enterprise and Employment zoned lands is considered acceptable and planning was granted subject to four planning conditions.
