Bi-weekly service offers quicker island connection between Achill and Clare Island throughout July and August
A new seasonal ferry service connecting Achill Island and Clare Island has been launched, offering visitors a fast and convenient way to travel between two of Mayo’s most popular islands.
Operated by O’Malley’s Ferries, the new route will run every Tuesday and Friday throughout July and August, with journey times of between 20 and 35 minutes.
The ferry departs Clare Island at 8.45am and 3.15pm. Two additional journeys leave Kildownet Pier in Achill, at 9.15am and 3.45pm.
The service is expected to appeal to day-trippers, walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore both islands during the summer months.
Operators say the new route offers an ideal opportunity for families, adventure seekers and nature lovers to discover Clare Island’s scenery, wildlife and unique attractions, while also making island hopping easier than ever.
More ferry options exist between Clare Island and Roonagh pier for those wishing to reach the island via a different route.
The bi-weekly service between Achill and Clare Island will operate throughout July and August, adding another transport option for visitors exploring the Wild Atlantic Way this summer.
