Paddy Healy

Carton North, Tooreen

THE death took place last week of Paddy Healy, Carton North, Tooreen. He was 74 and a member of a long established family in the area.

Paddy was one of nature’s gentlemen, always with a smile and a warm welcome. Anyone who ever called to the Healy home was made more than welcome. He had a lovely, easygoing and gentle presence and was a man of quiet and unassuming nature.

Paddy and his brother Bernard resided in the home place in Carton where they did some farming and took care of the land and livestock. Down through the years, they were held in the highest regard in the area. The Healy family were lovely neighbours and the passing of Paddy marks the end of an era.

A man of strong and abiding faith, Paddy was a regular at church ceremonies in Tooreen all his life. He had been in declining health for some time.

After Requiem Mass in Tooreen Church celebrated by Canon James Kelly, interment took place in Aghamore cemetery.

He is survived by his brother Bernard, sister Mary Prendergast (Ballinamore, Kiltimagh), nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May his soul rest in peace.
